Jarom's Birthday Party:

Hayden was a great helper this year.

The only problem was that once he found a good spot to hang ornaments,
he continued to hang them ALL in that spot:

That night, after decorating the tree, I wrapped presents. So when the kids woke the next morning there were presents under the tree.

Hayden asked if he could open them. When I told him that he had to wait, he then asked if he could "build towers" with the gifts:

Since decorating the tree, I have found Jocelyn rolling and scooting towards it, until she is situated just under the branches. She stares and stares at the lights:

Love for Daddy:

Brian has been super busy at work, and now he is taking finals. So when he gets home at night the kids just want some cuddles. Hayden says, "I jus' missed you, daddy".

Peek-A-Boo:

Hayden is a huge copycat. If Brian or I have said it, or done it, you can bet Hayden is going to repeat it. My favorite is that he calls Jocelyn, "Pretty Spits" (Brian calls Jocelyn "pretty girl" and "Miss Spits", so Hayden calls her "pretty spits"). Hayden loves to play games that he has seen Brian or I play with Jocelyn. Here is a video of the two of them playing Peek-A-Boo:

So far the worst thing Hayden has copied are the words, "dang it".
But he says, "Bang-it" :)

Hayden came to me the other day with some trail mix in his hand and said,

"Mom, I like the banana nuts." He was talking about cashews :)

Classic Skate with Tina and Gavin Wissinger:

Hayden absolutely LOVES playing with Gavin, so I had to include some video from Gavin and Hayden hanging-out at Classic Skate. It's not the most interesting video, but I know that Hayden will want to watch it over and over again.

I find these pictures hilarious.

Brian celebrated his 29th Birthday in September. Hayden was so excited. And the cutest thing was that he knew the drill (cake, candles, Happy Birthday song, presents...). Here is a video of our little family celebration.

Jocelyn at 2 months

I know I'm really late with this post, but "better late than never, right?".

Here are some things about Jocelyn at 2 months:

At her Dr. appt so weighed 9 lbs 12 ounces (that's the same as her cousin Sam at birth!!) and she was 22 inches long.

The Dr. said more Tummy Time, so Hayden helped out.

"Tummy Time is so much more fun with a friend."

Jocelyn Loves her Brother! She gets the biggest smiles when Hayden gives her attention and she will track him around the room.

Hayden loves to help with his "Lil' Sweetie",

but he's not the best babysitter, yet!

Jocelyn's swing has the most annoying music IN THE WORLD, but Hayden loves to play with the buttons and turn it on. So whenever Jocelyn is in the swing Hayden will turn on the music for her and she LOVES it. I HATE it. But once in awhile, when I can't get Jocelyn to calm down, I will put her in the swing and turn on the music. :)

(What us mom's will do for a little peace and quiet, plus a little music).

Another Love is the Bath...

Since birth, Jocelyn has always loved the bath. Whenever she is colicky I can count on the bath to calm her down.

As long as the car is moving...

...Jocelyn will be asleep.

Jocelyn is not the biggest fan of tummy time

(unless someone is on the floor with her)...

So she has learned to roll from her front to her back.

She can also scoot herself around the room.

BEGINNING:

1 MINUTE LATER...

(She will tuck her knees up to her belly and push-off)

I usually don't know that she is scooting, until I hear her crying because she is stuck or has hit her head on something. :(

She is a very social baby.

I think her ALL TIME favorite activity is to stand on my lap to talk and smile...

(It's one of my favorite activities too).

When Jocelyn really gets a talkin' she will suck in air and make a high-pitch breath. I like to think it's her first little laugh.

Neither Jocelyn or I would be sane without a "Swaddle Me" (it's a receiving blanket with velcro). She can't sleep without being swaddled, and these blankets ensure that she is wrapped nice and tight. I think she looks like a little Pea Pod and Brian says she's a Glow Worm, either way she super cute.

She sleeps about 5 1/2 hours at night! I feed her around 11:30pm and she doesn't wake up til 5:30am. I feel so lucky to get sleep, especially so I can keep-up with Mr. Bo-Bayden.

Another trick that we have discovered is GRIPE WATER. Jocelyn will get the hick-ups or an upset tummy (she goes stiff like a board and will moan, it's super sad). But we use a little gripe water and within 5 minutes she has a huge belch and then she's as happy as can be. Brian calls it "Miracle Water", and I would agree!

August-September Update

Lots of Lounging and PJ Wearing:

I have found that it is easier to stay in our pj's for most of the day, especially when you have a spit-uppy baby. So a couple days of the week, we relax.

We take care of Jocelyn:

Hayden loves to 1) Put her binky in when she cries, 2) Go right-up to her face and say, "Hi, Pretty Girl", and 3) Entertain/Teach her new things:

(The other day Hayden and I were singing Primary Songs and Hayden turned to Jocelyn and said, "it's your turn to sing". He just wants her to do all the fun things he does.)

After being a week late and being induced, Megan was in labor for 22 hours!!

Washington

At the end of August we flew to Washington and visited family for 1 1/2 weeks.

No-Mustache Pops met us at the airport:

Since the announcement of my first pregnancy (Hayden), we have had an ongoing deal that Pops would shave his mustache for his first granddaughter. It was the first time that Nana and all the kids/grandkids had seen Pops without a 'tache. I think he has had it for 30 some years.

I think he looks great.

While in Washington we visited Blake and pregnant Megan in Seattle.

Grandpa said that Hayden was so excited and hyped-up, that he fell asleep before Hayden did.

Family Update (July-August)

A couple of days after family left, Hayden started to get stir crazy. So we went to the Splash Pad Park near our new house. We even went with our new, nice neighbors.

Birth of Jocelyn LeAnne

We moved into our new home on Monday, July 11. Three days later it was my birthday and 2 days after that I started having contractions. Jocelyn was born 6 days after the move. It was a whirlwind of a week.

All week long Brian and I stayed-up til 2 o'clock in the morning, putting the house together. We only had 7 days til the scheduled c-section (but Baby Girl had different plans). Saturday evening my mother flew into SLC and we celebrated my belated birthday at Leatherby's (best ice cream parlor EVER, it was a good "last meal"). While at Leatherby's I started having "indigestion". On the way home I decided that I was experiencing "Braxton Hicks" (I wasn't due for another 9 days and the scheduled c-section was 2 days away, so it couldn't have been contractions). But later that night I got a prompting to pack my hospital bag. After getting 2 hours of sleep, I woke up at 2am to some major pain. I debated on whether or not to wake Brian, I didn't want to be one of those women (the ones that go to hospital, just to be sent home). I called the hospital and found out that contractions should be 5 min apart (I was clueless because I was suppose to have a c-section). After timing my 4 MINUTE contractions, we decided to make the 30 min drive to American Fork. We arrived around 3am. Answered questions for 1 1/2 hrs. Was in the delivery room by 5am. Started pushing at 6:30am, watched Brian go white (and almost pass out) and then watched his "WHOA NELLY" faces while I pushed. And then...Jocelyn LeAnne Quigley was born at 7:05am on Sunday, July 17th. Even though she didn't come as planned (a vaginal birth and a day early), I was happy that my mom had arrived to take care of Hayden, that the house was mostly put together, that she was healthy and happy, and most of all that I didn't have to push too long.

She arrived EXACTLY 2.5 years after Hayden.

She was 6 lbs 10 oz (1 oz less than Hayden) and

18 inches long (1 inch short of Hayden). Just a little baby sister to a T.

Tuesday, July 19 (3 days old):

The day we took Jocelyn home.

Grandma and Hayden, but mostly Grandma, were so excited to see baby Jocelyn.

Wednesday, July 20 (4 days old):

It was SO MUCH FUN to dress a little girl.

Thursday, July 21 (5 days old):

Her cute bows are the funnest to pick-out and put-in.

I am so grateful for my healthy, beautiful, little girl. For a Mr. Hayden Bo-Bayden that helps with his little sister and who brightens each day with his Sunshine. I am thankful for a kind and patient husband who works, so I can stay home with our precious kids, and who goes to school, so that our family will always be taken care of. I am thankful for our new home that allows Hayden to run and play without stumbling over his little "Josh-win". And I am most grateful for my Heavenly Father who watches over me and blesses me each and everyday.

We took Hayden to his first theater movie.

He actually did better than mommy. He watched the whole movie without complaining or fidgeting (can't say the same for me with my 8 mo. pregnant belly).

We spent a lot of time at 7-peaks,

knowing that when baby sister came we would have little chance of coming.

We have been building a new house for the last month and a half.

I haven't really blogged about it cause we were still unsure what was going to happen with the new baby and selling the townhouse.

But now that we are only a couple of weeks away from finishing and I've got some cute pictures, I'll blog just a little.

Even though she was 3 1/2 weeks early, she was healthy and strong enough to go home on Tuesday with Mommy.

Hayden will have a new Uncle the beginning of July, a new baby sister the end of July, and another cousin in August.

The Family is just growing. :)

First 7-Peaks Trip

While Jamie was visiting, we went to 7-Peaks.

Hayden thought that the orange slide was babyish. But he liked that he could walk around the little pool without any help. The deepest it got was to his nipple line. He loved the freedom that came with his new height.

He LOVED the Big Kid slides.

Jamie helped him at the top of the slide and I would catch him at the bottom.

He was such a BIG BOY and went down the slides, by himself, a bazillion times. I finally had to tell him "last time" because he was shivering uncontrollably and his lips were blue.

Jamie even took him on her lap down a HUGE SLIDE. He thought that was great! He kept on pointing to the "Green, Big Slide" and saying, "I went on it!"

BYU Poster

Richfield 4-Wheeler Riding

Our first camping trip of the season was to Richfield.

Daddy and Hayden on the "crazy, orange one".

He was such a good boy about wearing such a heavy, odd helmet. I'm so proud of him. He looks so big in his new helmet.

While on a ride, we just had to stop to throw rocks in the stream

(one of Hayden's favorite activities).

I was worried about Hayden falling in, but Daddy was super cute and made sure that he was always safe. :)

While throwing rocks, Hayden started singing "Give Said the Little Stream" but he replaced the word, "hill" with "mountain". He is such a little smarty pants.

In preparation for Mother's Day, Hayden colored pictures for Grandma and Nana.

I was so amazed at his detail, that I decided to scan them so I could post them on Mother's Day.

As you can see he really tried to color things individually (the flowers pink, the leaves green...). My favorite is grandma's vase. I love how he tried to outline it.

NANA'S PICTURE:

He really did color these all by himself. I helped him pick out colors (he would have picked black and brown) and I told him what to color ("Let's Color the Flowers Yellow"). But besides that, it was all him, my hand did not touch his.

I'm super proud of my little guy; he amazes me all the time. He makes everyday a Happy Mother's Day.

One evening I came home from a RS activity to Hayden bawling. He had just taken Socks for a walk and didn't want to leave him. They were having too much fun.

I had the opportunity to visit my sister, Jamie, in Hawaii!

I went with my mom and Jamie's friend, Paula.

We stayed in a little apartment.

(I was so grateful for the little swamp cooler in the bedroom.)

JAMBA JUICE

Hayden absolutely LOVES Jamba Juice. The other day Brian made home-made smoothies (trying to get rid of old fruit and ice cream) and Hayden got so excited, "Jamba! Jamba!"

HAYDEN QUOTE: One morning Hayden woke-up, put his hands in the air, stretched as far as he could, and said, "Mom, I'm so big...I'm gettin' so tall!"

He just grew overnight!

Not only does it show Hayden's cute outie; but how good of a daddy Brian is.

BABMI SADNESS

Nana was here in February and bought Hayden Bambi. He was having a good ol' time watching Bambi, Thumper, and Flower tromp around the forest. But then mayhem happens, Bambi's mother dies and the forest catches fire. As you can tell from the picture, Hayden got pretty upset. It was a heartbreaking, but funny moment.

HAYDEN QUOTE: On the ride home from church Hayden said, "My tummy is so sad". After lunch he rubbed his belly and said, "My belly is warm and cozy."

I think we've all felt like that after church :)

POOP IN THE TOILET

Hayden has been pee pee potty trained for about a month and a half. But he has been struggling with pooping in the toilet. One night (at a restaurant, of all places) Hayden decided to go poop in the toilet. So we have him a sucker and then took him to the $1 store for a toy.

Out of all the toys at the store, he picked another ball.

HAYDEN QUOTE: (The same day that Hayden pooped in the toilet). Brian and I were getting Hayden ready for bed and talking to him about the day (pooping in the toilet, getting a sucker, getting a new ball, eating pizza, ect). Hayden turns to Brian and says, "Dad, I'm soo Happy today."

It was a good day!

JAZZ GAME

Pops got 6 Executive Suite Tickets to the Jazz vs Lakers game!

Not only did we have COMFY, good, cushion seats; but we got a 5 star buffet dinner, and dessert crepes during half time. Oh! and we had drinks served to us the whole game.

I could watch every Jazz game like that!

ONCE THERE WAS A SNOWMAN...

Aunt Megan and Hayden built a tiny snowman (in April!).

They were very creative with his buttons - dandelions.

The next day Hayden wanted to go see his snowman, but it had melted. He was really, really sad. He then tells both Brian and I what had happened, "It (snowman) fell down, and melted. Then the grass 'slurp' it up. It's all gone." (He's such a thinker)

HAYDEN QUOTE: I was uploading pictures of the snowman onto my computer when Hayden came around the corner. He looked at the snowman pictures, got a huge grin and said, "It's perfect!" He was so proud of his little snowman.

BIG BOY BED

Pops made Hayden a toddler bed!

Hayden calls it his, "NEW bed" and he loves it.

Hayden has done really well with it and adjusted quickly. The first couple of nights he got out of bed and played (new found freedom). One night I heard him out of bed so I went to check on him and he was in the rocker reading books. Another night, Brian and I found him asleep but with only his top half of his body on the bed. His feet where still touching the ground. We think he fell asleep while trying to climb back into bed. But the novelty of freedom has quickly dissolved and has been replaced with soundless sleep. :)

(Thank you Pops, Grandpa, and Uncle Colt for all your hard work and ideas. The bed turned out perfectly.)

HAYDEN QUOTE: Hayden's new thing is to dislike EVERYTHING, "I don't like____(insert anything and everything)______." One day he especially disliked everything (nuggets, pants, shoes, cars...). So Brian suggested that I tell Hayden all the things I liked throughout the day. At bath time I asked Hayden if he was ready for me to wash his body with soap, he responds, "NO! I don't like soap!" So I told him why I liked soap, "It makes me smell good, I feel clean afterwards, and it gets rid of dirt." Well Hayden thought about that for a minute and replied, "I LIKE dirt!"

Amber and Emi came to visit from Kentucky, and we had a blast! My favorite part was going to Quilted Bear with a fellow craft connoisseur. Hayden loved having a playmate from sun-up to sun-down. Since they've left, he has asked several times, "Where's Emi?"

Baby Girl Ultrasound!

On Thursday morning, we found out that we will be welcoming a healthy baby GIRL on July 18th! We are so excited!!

It was a wonderful experience to see our beautiful little girl. And I think Hayden finally realized what was really going on inside mommy big tummy. On the way to the doctor he kept on saying, "Going to the doctor to fix Mommy's tummy." Now when we ask he says, "There's a baby in Mommy's tummy." And then he asks to see it. :)

(I had a really hard time downloading the video to iMovie and Blogger, so only part of the video plays. The best part, which does not play, is when the Ultrasound Tech tries to get a picture of the boy/girl parts. The little stinker wouldn't open up her legs, so the Tech wiggled and wiggled. Finally, we got a shot and sure enough it was a little girl. Daddy was super proud and said, "Any time now, you can say 'You were right'." and Mommy teared-up!

SNOW DAY

Friday morning we woke-up to 6-8 inches of snow. It slowly snowed 'til about 10am, when Brian decided to shovel the walks. So I bundled Hayden up and put on his never been worn snow boots and mittens. And the boys went outside to the Hayden-Knee Deep snow.

Even though we live in Utah and get SNOW all Fall, Winter, and Spring long; it was Hayden's first time playing in the snow.

Brian said that Hayden was exploring the whole time he was shoveling.

Hayden would take a GIANT step into the untouched snow and look all around at the smooth, clean glitter that surround him. Then he would take several steps, turn around and marvel at his tracks. He also loved when Daddy would 'make it snow' by shaking the tree branches. Hayden would say, "It's Snowin!".

On days like this I'm so grateful for a Healthy, Happy Little Boy that Explores and Learns and for a Great Husband that Takes Care of our Family and Loves his Little Boy.

Dishwasher Helper

Nana and Grandma Visits

We have had a couple of exciting weeks. Hayden has been spoiled by both Nana and Grandma!

A Trip on the Heber Valley Railroad

Nana had bought the train tickets in advance, so we decided to go even though Hayden was sick. In most of the pictures Hayden has a dazed look. He was also super cuddly, which was great for Brian and I cause we didn't have to chase him up and down the train aisle.

Our Little Family

Nana even took the time to teach Hayden a "Lay-Up" on his new basketball hoop:

Grandma's Visit:

We only had a couple of days with Grandma, but Grandma took every chance to spoil the little guy. And Hayden took advantage of Grandma's spoiling. By the end of the first day Hayden was following Grandma around, or was it Grandma following Hayden.

Grandma let Hayden ride the Sports Car about a Zillion Times while Ashley and I shopped.

She also let him watch Word World a Zillion Times on the lap top or the iPad (whichever one was not in use). They made a Movie Night out of it by staying up past bedtime and by eating popcorn.

The day Grandma left, Hayden searched the whole house saying, "Where's G-wan-ma?" It was sweet and sad at the same time.

Thank you Nana and Grandma. It's so sweet of you to visit us and we had a blast making memories!
